At Range, we are proud of our large and successful Sixth Form, which welcomes both our own students and those joining us from other schools at 16.

Our aim as a Sixth Form Team is to ensure every student reaches their full potential and progresses confidently into further study, employment, or training. Achieving this relies on a strong partnership between students, parents, and teachers, built on communication, support, and shared commitment.

Range High School Sixth Form welcomes external students, with 25 admission places available and flexibility to increase if applications exceed this number.

At Range High Sixth Form College, our study programme blends academic qualifications with a variety of enrichment activities to meet the needs of every student. Learners can choose from a broad selection of A levels and applied general courses, tailored to their career aspirations and prior attainment. All students follow a full‑time study programme consisting of more than 600 planned hours.

Throughout their two years with us, students take part in structured careers education and personal development programmes. Every student completes a full week of work experience during the summer term of Year 12, forming a key part of their wider enrichment and helping them build confidence, character, and essential skills. Students also have the option to undertake the Extended Project Qualification in Year 12.

Students who have not yet achieved a grade 4 in GCSE English or maths are timetabled for additional lessons to support their continued study of these subjects until they secure the required grade.

At Range Sixth Form, we ensure every student gets the most out of their post-16 journey. By combining academic rigour with a wide range of enrichment activities to fully prepare  students for the future.

Our curriculum offers a broad selection of A Levels and vocational courses. In addition to their academic studies all of our students follow a personal development and careers programme. Beyond the classroom, our  students participate in a week of work experience in the summer term of Year 12 and have the opportunity to undertake the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).

Students yet to achieve a Grade 4 in GCSE English or Maths receive dedicated, timetabled lessons to secure these essential qualifications.

Careers Education, information, advice and guidance is a continuous process throughout a student’s two years in Sixth Form. Students are fully informed about the benefits of university study and of taking an advanced, higher or degree apprenticeship route and are encouraged to attend open days and apprenticeship events. They also have access to a variety of university visits and hear from visiting representatives of universities and employers of apprentices.

Students who decide to apply to university receive full support throughout the application process, including one‑to‑one guidance with their personal statements. Students interested in apprenticeships are encouraged to attend the employer match up service event at the University of Lancashire, where appropriate, and they receive tailored one‑to‑one support during the application process. In the final weeks of the Year 12 summer term, all students complete a week of work experience, helping them enhance the quality of their personal statements.
