The amazing under 16 hockey team were unlucky at their last county schools’ tournament and finished a very close second. Despite scoring twice as many goals as the winners their opening game against them was a slow start and Greenbank scored an early goal and we did not settle duing the match. The loss in the openeing game meant our chance of winning had gone if Greenbank went on to win all of their remaining games. Greenbank drew one game but we knew that they were still winning overall. Range played four more games and won them all well.
Results: Range 0 – Greenbank 1
Range 2 – Liverpool College 0
Range 4 – St Mary’s 0
Range 4 – Merchant Taylors 0
Range 1 – St Edwards 0
This was the best team performance from the girls and they were playing well for each other. Goal scorers included; Holly Steiger, Abbie Hobbs, Molly Graham, Nina Macy, Sophie Cooke, Hannah Fraser and Emma Holden.
Holy Steiger scored two great goals from the edge of the D and Emma Holden finished off a great cross from Sophie Cooke, after a weaving sols tun, to score the pick of our goals.
In the past 5 season this group of girls have won 8 out of the 10 County Tournaments they have entered into – a record that will surely last for a very long time.
Congratulations ladies – it’s been a pleasure!
