Last July, 8 Range pupils embarked on the trip of a lifetime to Northern Tanzania as part of a World Challenge expedition. The team fundraised by doing summer jobs, cake sales, busking, selling sweets and drinks at school sports day, playing live music gigs, babysitting, window cleaning, doing odd jobs and setting up pages like ‘Go fund me’ and ‘Just Giving’.
Our Ethos at Range High School is “Challenge, Support, Flourish” and this challenge embodied all strands of this. Pupils were challenged physically and mentally during the trip and developed skills they might not always get the chance to experience inside the classroom, such as resilience, organisation, teamwork, communication. The pupils learnt from different cultures and contributed to the local community, which enabled them to flourish and gain valuable life skills to share with the school community and take forward into the rest of their lives.
