In November, the Art department ran a competition in conjunction with the Café D’Art in Formby on the theme of ‘Icons’. We ran the competition at lunchtimes and it was very well attended by mostly KS3 children. Very kindly, Mr Kevin Grimes, School Governor and owner of the café, framed the students’ work and in addition, offered £100 prize money to the winner and two runners up prizes of £25 each. All entries were outstanding and we know that he had a hard time picking the winner! Prizes were given at the private view in front of many proud parents and relatives and the evening was a great success – well done to Scarlett Wilkins (Year 8) who won with her painting of singer Lorde. All the work was on display at Café D’Art for a week.
